What is the philosophical meaning to life and/or living?

In otherwords, what purpose are we to achieve as the the "highest" form of living organism? What can we do to make ours and others lives better physically and emotionally? The philosophical question "What is the meaning of life?" means different things to different people. The vagueness of the query is inherent in the word "meaning", which opens the question to many interpretations, such as: "What is the origin of life?", "What is the nature of life (and of the universe in which we live)?", "What is the significance of life?", "What is valuable in life?", and "What is the purpose of, or in, (one’s) life?". These questions have resulted in a wide range of competing answers and arguments, from scientific theories, to philosophical, theological, and spiritual explanations.

These questions are separate from the scientific issue of the boundary between things with life and inanimate objects. Popular beliefs "What is the meaning of life?" is a question many people ask . . . → Read More: What is the philosophical meaning to life and/or living?

Do you think the Bible teaches that being poor is spiritual?

Like many people, the media, perceive that as a Christian, one is to be poor to be spiritual… But, i would have to disagree. It would seem that the Bible teaches otherwise.

But I want to know what you have learned on the subject of prosperity and poverty in the bible. Also if being poor is spiritual? First I would like to note, that the Bible is not talking about actual physical actions or states, or even actual characters. Everything has to be understood allegorically. We naturally have a desire to receive pleasure, and especially to receive it only for ourselves. On our correction path to get closer to God we have to change this direction of the desire from "for ourselves" to the direction "for others". So that is what it means to be poor, that we do not want to receive things for ourselves but we want to receive for the sake of others. It does not necessarily . . . → Read More: Do you think the Bible teaches that being poor is spiritual?

How to deal with living a mediocre life in a mediocre city?

I can’t stand it anymore. I know what I want to go to college for and then I’m moving out. But idk how my parents can stand to live such a medoicre life. I feel like I hate them. I need to get the f*** out and they don’t care if I live a mediocre life either. Why couldn’t they have a more exciting life. I’m saving up but I need to get jaw surgery 1st because it takes around 2 weeks to recover. & then I’ll start college etc. But seriously this worthless life is driving me nuts. It feels worthless. I need to feel like life is worth living. I feel so different from everyone. Idk how the majority of people can live in small towns, suburbs, even cities that no one really cares about. I only have 4 cities in mind that I wouldn’t mind living in/that seem worth living in. Philadelphia, Boston, NYC, or LA. Yeah . . . → Read More: How to deal with living a mediocre life in a mediocre city?

is it possible to achieve higher conciousness living with negative people?

not religiously, purely spiritual. i live with people who are deeply rooted in their ego. when i meditate i go 1 step forward but when i talk to them i go 2 steps back. i feel like im going nowhere. is it possible? Dealing with negative closed minded people is the most frustating thing in the world and the whole reason that humans have messed up the planet.

Rise above them

How can you tell the difference between a spiritual truth, and what may seem true but isn’t?

I’m sure an obvious answer is "Through the spirit" or "through inspiration". The problem with that though, is how do I tell which spiritual inspirations are truth, and what may seem to be true but aren’t? If the Devil can supposedly appear as an Angel of light, then is God just not throwing us a bone by allowing all of those with good intentions to confuse themselves in to countless religions? There is a saying: "The judge has only what his eyes see". It means that only what we can actually sense within our senses can we accept as truth, and besides this truth should be attainable by anyone else following the same method. So regarding spirituality, although it seems very far fetched, there is an actual practical method, that can lead us to the attainable truth regarding spiritual entities, including the higher force/Creator, and all while still living in this world. Here is a link that can guide you . . . → Read More: How can you tell the difference between a spiritual truth, and what may seem true but isn’t?

I know some people talking about spiritual things but they dont have it in there practical life. Why is that?Is it realy hard. ahh you mean hypocrits well, thats pretty much cos we humans, are not perfect, infact we are really flawed, but we need to think we are a better than we are, so we say we are beter, but dont actaully ACT better

if we all lived by what we claimed we were, then i think we would see a huge change in life and soceity for the better

is it that hard, yes, we find it VERY hard to change

Can science and modern knowledge truly reconcile with a spiritual life and faith?

It seems that current understanding eviscerates the factual truths of past religious traditions. Can their be a new spiritual way that embraces the scientific facts of what we now know to be true? I don’t think they can ever be fully reconciled, but they don’t have to be categorically opposed either. Science is based on understanding, Religion is based on belief. Science needs proof, Religion needs faith. These don’t necessarily contradict each other, because Science doesn’t create anything, it reveals what already exists. God creates, but doesn’t always reveal. There is room for intellectual co-existence there. For instance, just because Science can explain some small part of how we came to exist, that doesn’t mean God didn’t create it, and left it for us to discover. After all, God wouldn’t have given us a superior intelligence, if he didn’t want us to use it. In this way, using Science to explain the world we live in, could enable us to . . . → Read More: Can science and modern knowledge truly reconcile with a spiritual life and faith?

How can I undergo a complete spiritual awakening and work a job at the same time?

I have been meditating for a few years and recently I have been able to activate my flow of energy that I can feel pulsating in my body. Work and life in general tires me out. I want to be able to just focus on my spiritual energy and leave this world behind.

Is this possible? Yes! It is very possible. The key to spirituality is balance. You need to have a solid grounding to spiritual advance as well. It’s hard to meditate on an empty stomach! Plus, not living in the real world when you do spiritual things is using spirituality for escapism, when spirituality should actually help you function in daily life. Here is also a good small text to read on the matter:

Hope that helped!

Among the living spiritual gurus who has spiritually affected you the most ?

I am interested in knowing if there is anyone out there who is truly awakened spiritually and is able to really help others in their spiritual quest. Write in with your own experiences. None. I follow after Jesus Christ, not fallible man.
