If you only had fifteen minutes to take a break from a toxic or stressful work environment?

What would you do to make your break a healing, re-energizing, even fun retreat? Meditate? Read? Listen to music? Sit in a nearby park? Journal? Hmmm?

Ten points for anyone who can create a good, do-able plan for a fifteen-minute retreat–in New York City (nr. the Trump Tower, Central Park, and the Time-Warner Mall).

Thanks. Take 5 min for your coffee and then, do yoga meditation for the remaining 10 miutes.

Is there anything different between the Chinese and Japanese spiritual beliefs?

I am watching MULAN and I just want to know. Like do they both believe in the same type of Buddhism, meditation, beliefs? Like, if a chinese person did something wrong, they believe that they will be punished and things like hat. Also, do the Japanese use incense like the Chinese, and pray in front of tablets with words on them. Anything you can think of, Thanks in advance. Probably not too much difference…one things for sure most do not worship the God of the Universe, the creator of heaven and earth. Most use idols of some sort in worship. The living God doesn’t approve of such practices.

Addt’l Applehunter: Yes there is very little difference between so called Christianity and Paganism for aren’t they doing the SAME THINGS. Which religion you know has proven they are seperate and no part of this world like Christ and his disciples. The only difference is one says they accept Christ as . . . → Read More: Is there anything different between the Chinese and Japanese spiritual beliefs?

How to deal with living a mediocre life in a mediocre city?

I can’t stand it anymore. I know what I want to go to college for and then I’m moving out. But idk how my parents can stand to live such a medoicre life. I feel like I hate them. I need to get the f*** out and they don’t care if I live a mediocre life either. Why couldn’t they have a more exciting life. I’m saving up but I need to get jaw surgery 1st because it takes around 2 weeks to recover. & then I’ll start college etc. But seriously this worthless life is driving me nuts. It feels worthless. I need to feel like life is worth living. I feel so different from everyone. Idk how the majority of people can live in small towns, suburbs, even cities that no one really cares about. I only have 4 cities in mind that I wouldn’t mind living in/that seem worth living in. Philadelphia, Boston, NYC, or LA. Yeah . . . → Read More: How to deal with living a mediocre life in a mediocre city?

Is it wrong to do yoga and can it mess with your head?

I was reading a spiritual book and it listed all the practices that could lead to saton entering your life and one of them was yoga. Then you weren’t reading a Spiritual book, you were reading a Religious text written by an ignoramus. Yoga is a system. It has a physical component (for which it is most famous), but it has philosophical and spiritual elements if you choose to delve more deeply. The word ‘Yoga’ means ‘Union’. The object of Yoga is to make you Whole. The ‘Union’ being that you become an integrated person, Mind, body and Spirit, and that this in turn leads to Union with God, or The Divine if you prefer. So these badly informed screaming preachers who claim that a system designed to bring you to Union with God is going to let Satan into your life clearly need to do more research. Now personally I think Jesus was an amazing person, and I respect . . . → Read More: Is it wrong to do yoga and can it mess with your head?

Never taken yoga classes before, best way to start doing yoga at home?

I’ve never done yoga, aside from doing it at my house. I watch Dr. Melissa West on youtube, and do her exercises. I don’t have any other options, really.

The only kind of yoga classes that are offered in my area are bikram classes, and I have no interest at all in trying bikram, and can’t afford to really spend my money on yoga classes, anyway.

I realize that there’s a huge difference in having someone actually teaching you, and trying to learn yourself. But I don’t have much to work with, unfortunately.

Any suggestions on how to get started with do it yourself yoga? I like the videos I’ve been doing. I always feel very relaxed afterward, and can tell that my muscles are loosening up a bit from doing it. So is that good enough? Hi there, these are pretty good results, although you can get infinitely more from it if you continue to practice . . . → Read More: Never taken yoga classes before, best way to start doing yoga at home?

Is there a difference between the spirit and soul?

I feel like there is. I’m going to use a simple comparison.

Take for example, water. This symbolizes the soul.

Then take some dye. This is the spirit. Put a few drops in the water, and it becomes something more than just a cup of water.

Then, put this mixture into a mold shaped as a human. This is the body.

This "dye" changes with each time you incarnate. It’s like giving your soul an identity, without spoiling the purpose of the body. The three work simultaneously.

What are your thoughts? @ Freethinking Liberal – Souls and spirits aren’t objects and evidence is subjective. You are correct, there is a difference. The spirit is more of a energy track, typically equated to the aura, etheric or spiritual body. The soul is referred to the atmic body or presence that resides in a mortal vessel during life and is the source of life activity. The soul energizes the . . . → Read More: Is there a difference between the spirit and soul?
